Related Works (not by the Society) (1808–2017)

Books, periodicals, documents and press reports that were not published by the Watch Tower Society, but belong to its history.

WT Library is an archive, not a religious organisation. To understand how the Watch Tower Society's teachings came about and how they were received, it helps to read what surrounded them: the writers C. T. Russell learned from, the books the Society itself recommended or sold to its readers, the Bible translations it quoted, the court cases it fought, what newspapers wrote, and what critics, including former members, said at the time.

Placing a work here does not mean that this site, or the Society, endorses it. Some of these works the Society praised and quoted for decades; some it later rejected; some were written against it. Each work carries a note on who wrote it and how it relates to the Society, so you can judge it for yourself.

Most texts were read by OCR from scans of the originals, without editing or abridgement; the original scan is available as PDF where we have it. A few come from existing transcriptions or e-book editions, which the note on the work names. Handwritten documents and forms are shown as images of the scanned pages, since OCR cannot read them reliably. Where the Society's own publications mention a work or its author, the link "What Society publications say" searches this archive for those passages, so the claims can be checked against the Society's own words.

This section is kept apart from the rest of the library: its texts are not counted in the Bible references index.
