Books Recommended by the Society (1878–1957)
Books by outside authors that the Society recommended, sold or quoted as supporting its teaching at some time: Hislop's The Two Babylons, Seola, Vail's annular (canopy) theory, Greber's New Testament, Rome Stoops to Conquer, and the sympathetic books of Marley Cole and A. H. Macmillan published by commercial publishers in the 1950s. Several were later dropped: the Society stopped citing Johannes Greber's translation in 1983 because of his spiritism, and The Two Babylons, once quoted widely, is now regarded by historians as unreliable.
These works were not published by the Watch Tower Society; see the Related Works section page for why they are in this library.
